Key milestone in the development of Metaconceptual Art theory and practice at Sun & Rain Works.
The Metaconceptual Art movement was founded, pioneered, and defined as "Art about Art" with 8 defining characteristics, including the return of Formless to Form, examination of art commodification, and transcendence of medium to arrive within collective consciousness.
Creation of "WTF is Art" as a Metaconceptual Art piece and platform for digital art exploration, in addition to "WTF is Ansel Adams", the other first Meta art work created live at auction at Sotheby's NYC, the actual auction happening itself in New York City.
"WTF is Ansel Adams" - Historic auction of previously undiscovered Ansel Adams photograph with live Meta art creation.
Expansion into digital art forms and interactive experiences.
Sun & Rain Works attended and participated in the first ever Metascience symposion at Stanford University in California. Art about Art meets and participates with Science about Science.
Continuing to explore and work in the frontiers of digital art from 2008 - 2005 with "WTF is Art", although this art work website has transferred ownership over the years since it's original launch in 2008, we are carrying forward the digital art and technology with "WTF is Art" in 2025 and into the future.
