Have you ever felt you want to climb into the hedgerows in the Irish countryside and wander around in there? Have you ever felt you want to be drawn into the undergrowth of the blackberry bushes as you traverse the Irish country paths? Well now you can. Go and linger in front of these beautiful paintings by Irish artist Judy Lawler. The exhibition, The Wild Hedges is on in The Watergarden Gallery, Thomastown, Co.Kilkenny 14th May -18th June 2019.
Stand face on to these paintings and you can feel the magical power of the wild blackberry bushes. There are 8 paintings in all in the exhibition. They hang in pairs which, for me, enhances the feeling of magic. The paintings are rich in color and depth, with shadows that suggest the goings on underneath. If you are looking for something to feast your eyes on and to take you away for a few minutes this summer I urge you to visit these paintings.
